Would you be able to explain the classes? I have a friend with a greener horse who I would love to do some pairs with (and my horse is bold but still learning himself) and we would love to come! But it would be extremely helpful to have a description of everything available and whether jumping is required or optional. This would be my first time, but I am SO excited!

Hi there, sorry for not posting sooner.
I have pasted the class description below...it indicates skill level required for most classes but there is plenty to do, even for green horses. The Hunter Pace is jump optional and there is no jumping in any of the afternoon 'games'.
Looking forward to seeing you there!

Hunter Pace cross-country event. Moderate speed. Open to teams of 2 or 3 riders. 6 km. course with low jumps (max. 2’9”) and natural obstacles optional. Closest to moderate pre-set time wins. Two minute start intervals. Ideal event for green horses, riders of all levels, western riders, non-jumpers etc.. N.B. Start times end strictly at 9:30 as all competitors must be off the course before the Mock Hunt at 11.00. Starter will refuse late arrivals. Ribbons to the top six teams. Prize presentation in front of the clubhouse upon conclusion.

Parade of foxhounds and Live Mock Hunt with The Eglinton and Caledon Foxhounds. Moderate speed. Ride behind the Field Master and experience the thrill of riding to hounds on a short demonstration course. Great way to introduce your horse to the hunt field in a group of horses. See how you and your horse love it. Jumps optional. NEW! Hound Race. Cheer on your favourite hound and see who makes it over the finish line first – friendly $5 bets toward a 50/50 draw.

Mimosa Cup Singles. The most prestigious event of the day! A speed event over the same 6 km course of past years. Timed race for individual riders on the cross-country course (jumps max height 2’9”). Fastest time wins. Starts at 2 minute intervals with previous years’ winners seeded to start first. Trophy, $200 in prize money to fastest 3. Ribbons to 6 places.

NEW! Tailgate Competition. Enter the traditional tailgate competition and get VIP parking with a terrific view for the day (trailers must be parked in trailer parking). Bring your best picnicking skills to wow the judges with your presentation and offerings! Trophy and prize for first, ribbons to 3rd.

NEW! Handy Foxhunter class. A fun new event this year! Suitable for most riders and with modest demands on your horse. Join the ‘field’ and follow a Field Master to see who can best manage the incidental challenges that might be faced out on a day’s hunting. No jumping required, not timed. Ribbons to 6th.

NEW! Musical Stalls. Another fun new addition this year! Suitable for most riders and with modest demands on your horse. When the music stops, get your horse into a ‘stall’ and don’t be the one left out! Ribbons to 6th.

Team Relay Races. Suitable for most riders and with modest demands on your horse. A speed event over a short half km course to test agility and speed. Two low jumps (2 ft. 9 in.) and other simple obstacles to be negotiated. Teams of two riders race against another team on a parallel course with the first rider passing the baton to the second team member for a repeat of the course. First past the post wins in the heat events with times recorded. A second race-off between the two fastest teams to determine overall winner. Ribbons to top six fastest teams. Trophy to the overall winner. Starter will match up single riders with partner, if needed.

Mimosa Cup Pairs Race. A speed event. Timed race for teams of 2 riders on the same 6 km. cross-country course as years past (jumps max ht. 2’9”). Fastest time wins. Starts at 2 minute intervals. Trophy, $200 in prize money to fastest 3 pairs. Ribbons to 6 places. Partners arranged for single riders if required.

Riddle Ride. Slow speed. Quiet ride thru’ nearby country led by local riders for those not in Mimosa Cup race. Test your wits and solve several riddles as you progress on the ride. Whistle stop for refreshments at the half way point. Estimated time for the ride: one hour. A pleasant and fun way to bring your day’s fun to an end.

Can we sign up day of?

Are the events timed? Would it be ok for green horses? And can western tack be used?

Thank you!

There might not be space to sign up day of...

Most of the events are timed, but they are not all 'speed' events, such as the hunter pace, and riddle ride.
The 'race' ones, yes they are fast-wins types of races.

There is lots for green horses here, all jumps are optional on the hunter pace.

I have seen people using Western Tack, yes (not for jumping though)

Looking for a partner for the Mimosa Cup Pairs class - preferably someone who is fine with a faster pace to be competitive.

Western riders are welcome....jumping is optional in all events except for the Mimosa Cup races.

And as mentioned by HOpewellCreekStables, there is LOTS to do for green horses!

When you check in on Sunday morning, let the registrar know and they will be able to match you up with another rider or two. Should not be an issue at all!

Latest start time for the Hunter Pace is 9:30 as the course must be clear before 11 for the Mock Hunt.
It's best not to leave it right to the end as there may be others that try to do the same and the starter won't be able to let anybody go after 9:30 - this is a safety issue as we want to ensure that everyone is off the course before the next event starts in the same area.

Forecast looks amazing for Sunday!

Does anyone know who the photographer was there and if the pictures are up yet?
