7 yr old Hanoverian/Holsteiner mare-diagnosed by xray at St Hy July 6,2012 with communitive fracture of acetabular rim and pubis of the left hemipelvis-transrectal ultrasound of left hemipelvis-fracture is visible but cannot confirm if the fracture is in fact articular or not, hematoma is visible, about size of grapefruit and associated with fracture site-fracture is minimally displaced-suggest 4 months stall rest and reevaluation-transrectal ultrasound performed at end of 8 weeks, hematoma about the size of two cherries and minimal healing at fracture site, obviously signigicant muscle atrophy- After the ultrasound at 8 weeks I am disappointed and thinking it will be more like 6-8 months-any experience/insight with this type of injury? rehabbing? It seems to be extremely rare.
