Does anyone have an opinion on the GP softshell jackets? I LOVE the idea of a washable jacket, but I am just wondering if they are too hot or not.

Thanks.

Trying so hard to find a soft shell jacket!
Where did you get your GP one?

Seriously? Every time I go, they never have them. And I dont know which one I want (GP, GPA, Pikeur) to have them order it in ... I want to try all of them on lol!

Have you tried it on yet? I loved the concept of a washable jacket but I found that the GPA ones fit me really loosely. I really liked the fit of the pikeurs one though! I eventually ended up getting an Animo jacket and I can't imagine riding in any other fabric now!

Ive tried on an RJ classic one and a GPA one at the royal, both were not my actual size, they were too big, and too short ... Its so hard to find them in stock! I want to order them from internet (amira) but Im paranoid until I actually find one, and try on a legit size!

Do the Animo products have a store? Ive only seen them advertised via internet ...

One of the beauties of having a softshell jacket is the fact that it's cooler than wool.

I switched to the Grand Prix softshell this year because I tend to overheat at shows. It did its job admirably. I wore it on the hottest summer days at the shows, and while it wasn't the same as wearing short sleeves or anything, it was infinitely more tolerable than wool.

I love my GP softshell and you will have to pry it from my cold, dead hands. smile

Just bought one!

They make them in hunter variety too - they're absolutely gorgeous, don't feel like a show jacket at all. The soft shell is MUCH cooler than the wool too... Good luck! smile

It depends on the style that you get. I spoiled myself and ended up with one that had a bit fancier stitching which ended up being just over $900 after taxes. Without taxes, I think they range from $600-800ish. It was a definite splurge but I don't regret it! I've received so many compliments and it fits so perfectly! I love the zipper and button style as well.

Great thanks smile Love their stuff, but definitely not cheap! :P Haha

Someone asked previously whether they have a store or not, but I was wondering if they have a mobile unit or are ever at any of the A shows, not just the Royal? (... some place where I can physically track them down!! lol)

Also, I've seen so many soft shells that have gorgeous coloured linings with matching collars/piping... are those the Grand Prix ones?

(sorry for the questions, did not intend to pull away from the original post) smile

They do have a mobile unit! They were at multiple palgraves last year, as well as the quebec shows. I think the ones you are thinking of are the Marigold jackets with the colored linings and piping as they are custom to order.
