i am looking for advice from the pros. my 2008 Oldenburg filly has sustained a hock injury, the vet says she may be just fine. i was wondering what you all do when this happens. she is such a lovely filly, i have put so much time and love into her, what should i do ??

Without knowing more about the hock issue, I would say that there is really no choice but to wait and see if she recovers. What else were you thinking of doing? Is this your only horse?

I was thinking of finding her a home as a broodmare prospect...and yes unfortunatley she is my only horse

What was the extent of the injury? Ultrasound/x-rays? Your vet feels that she may be fine so give her some time and don't be so quick to give up on her.

What exactly was the injury? Maybe I'm wrong but I get the impression that you have given up on her? You can't really expect to get much in the way of a price or trade for her I don't think. I would definitely give her some time...mother nature is a great healer!

If it's a growth problem look into a supplement called OCD pellets. Apparently they can heal a lot of problems, and prevent other problems from arising.
